Travel

As a local guide on Jeju Island, I have had the pleasure of showing visitors around this beautiful place and sharing its unique culture and traditions. Recently, I had the opportunity to lead a private tour for a couple who were visiting from overseas. It was a day full of adventure and fun, and I wanted to share some highlights from our trip.

We started our day with a visit to Jeju Folk Village, a wonderful place that showcases traditional Korean houses and daily life from centuries past. We strolled through the narrow alleys, admiring the thatched roofs, and learned about the island's unique history and culture. The couple was particularly fascinated by the different architectural styles and how they reflected the social status of their owners.

Next, we headed to Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most popular destinations in Jeju. The climb to the top was a bit challenging, but the stunning views of the sunrise and the ocean made it all worth it. We spent some time at the summit, enjoying the fresh air and taking pictures of the picturesque scenery.

After a morning of sightseeing, we were all feeling a bit hungry, so we decided to stop at a local restaurant to try some traditional Jeju food. We ordered a set menu that included fresh seafood, kimchi, and various side dishes, all of which were delicious. The couple was pleasantly surprised by the unique flavors and textures of the dishes and said it was one of the highlights of their trip.

In the afternoon, we visited Manjanggul Cave, a fascinating natural wonder that stretches for over 7 km underground. The cool temperature inside the cave provided a welcome respite from the heat outside, and we marveled at the intricate formations and the unique ecosystem that had developed inside. The couple was particularly impressed by the guide's knowledge and enthusiasm for the cave's geology and history.

Our last stop of the day was at Woljeongri Beach, one of the most beautiful and peaceful beaches on the island. We strolled along the shore, feeling the sand between our toes and listening to the soothing sound of the waves. The couple enjoyed the tranquility of the beach, and we all agreed that it was a perfect way to end our day together.

Overall, it was a wonderful day full of adventure and discovery, and I was so glad to have shared it with the couple. As a local guide, I feel privileged to be able to introduce visitors to the hidden gems of Jeju Island and to show them the warmth and hospitality of its people. I look forward to more opportunities to share the magic of this island with others.
